Frequently Asked Questions

How can talking about my problems change anything?

Well, it can’t change the problems but it can change YOU!

Talk therapy can help you change your perspective, your thoughts, and your feelings about the problems. It can change how you think about yourself. â€‹

How much does counseling cost?

Soul Support Counseling offers reasonable and moderate fees for individuals and the total cost of counseling depends upon the length and frequency of sessions. Sessions for individuals can be either 45 or 60 minutes long. It's possible to meet weekly or every other week.

Please contact us directly at (860) 223-2232 or nancy@soulsupportcounselingct.com to discuss specific pricing terms.

Will my counseling be covered by my Insurance?

Congratulations on deciding to invest in your personal health and growth.

At Soul Support Counseling we know that it is important to you to have assistance in paying the cost of therapy. Because Nancy M. Brockett, PhD os a licensed behavioral health provider, clients are able to submit claims to their health insurers for reimbursement of services of an out-of-network provider.

Does Soul Support participate in any insurance panels or networks?

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us.

When insurance companies work with "in-network" providers, they require that some of your private health information be made available.  This protected information may include diagnosis (if any) as well as treatment plan and summaries. Some insurance plans may limit how many visits you can make to see a therapist based on managed care principles.

In addition, the provider's time involved in submitting claims to receive payment, often requiring several follow-up contacts, is time taken away from providing therapy.

At  Soul Support Counseling we prefer to give our full attention to providing excellent therapy and to offer our services for reasonable, moderate fees. We make relevant service provider identification information so that you can submit your claims for reimbursement of services of an out-of-network provider.

What if I can't afford counseling at this time?

We provide our services at reasonable and moderate rates. However, you might not be currently in a position to pay with an HSA or out of network. You might be able to find a counselor at OpenCounseling.com, a directory of non-profit counseling centers throughout the US. What is Growing a Soul?
Growing a Soul

Your soul is the part of you that grounds your inspirations, hopes and dreams in the 'here & now.'; It keeps you in touch with both what's on the 'inside'; and how you act in the 'outside world.'

You can weaken your soul by living your life in a way that rivets your focus only to the outer world.
("I've got to make _____ like me so I can get what I need..." "Only a few more ______ and I'll be happy...")

Growing a Soul is a life-long process of

  • Moving—at your own pace— towards consciousness and wholeness.

  • Healing any hidden pain in your life.

  • Discovering what gives you life.

  • Releasing power and creative energy to fulfill your life purpose.

  • Awakening from “auto pilot” to a conscious, dynamic way of living.

At Soul Support Counseling we help you pay attention to your whole self—mind, body and soul.

What is Spiritual Direction?

When we speak of spiritual direction we’re talking of a practice where a “director”(guide) accompanies you on your spiritual journey in the process of growing your soul. Maybe sometimes you don't think much is happening in the spiritual aspect of yourself, or you can't detect a connection with God (or the holy or a higher power).

Spiritual direction invites and explores a deeper relationship with the spiritual aspect of being human.

"As the spiritual director I listen to you and help you notice where and when in your everyday life you are encountering Sacred Presence," says Nancy Brockett, PhD. "It’s about walking along side you and helping you notice and then respond to the movement of LIFE in you. As we listen we create a safe place where you can wake up to your life on the inside and in connection with a larger Source of Life"

The subject matter of spiritual direction is anything that's happened in your life which helps or hinders growth in your relationships with Source, yourself, and others. In spiritual direction we help you take honest looks at your relationships as they are lived out in everyday life.

“Spiritual direction helps us learn how to live in peace, with compassion, promoting justice, humble servants of that which lies beyond all names.
